Tonight, ‘Pianohooligan’ Piotr Orzechowski is opening Nostalgia Festival Poznań 2018 with compositions from his album 24 Preludes and Improvisations. For the first time on one evening, the pianist will perform all the pieces from his latest release. He will begin at 7 p.m. at the Jesuit Fathers’ Church in Poznań.

Piotr Orzechowski, born in 1990, is a pianist, improviser and composer, a graduate of the Berklee College of Music, who has been hailed by critics as ‘the most creative and uncompromising young Polish jazz artist.’ Since his triumph at the Swiss Montreux Jazz Solo Piano Competition 2011, he has been touring all over the world. His work is a synthesis of classical genres and improvisation. He often works with the music of celebrated composers, such as Penderecki, Lutosławski or Bach, and rewrites it in his own experimental way.

Tonight’s concert by Piotr Orzechowski will be performed in two parts. Between these, we would like to invite you to the inauguration of the Nostalgia Festival with Giya Kancheli and Piotr Orzechowski at Galeria u Jezuitów. Free admission passes are required.
